Pragati Bhatia

Born in India, I migrated to Australia with my family as a mere toddler. My passion for storytelling was borne out of the folk tales my father would read to my sister and I at bedtime. My love for drama was ignited by watching and imitating Bollywood film stars of the 80s, often with my two sisters wearing stockings on our heads as wigs. I am not a costume designer.

For 25 years I have balanced a successful corporate career in the financial services industry with my creative ventures. In 2014, I decided to take up writing with the aim to represent diversity in the arts in Australia. I have recently completed my first screenplay which I toured as a developmental piece at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has now evolved into a full-length feature film.

You can follow the screenplay on Phoenix And The Crow Facebook page.

As an artist, I am dynamic, versatile and tenacious. I believe that art is the heartbeat of society. I want to use storytelling as a tool to inspire and educate people and create change.

At present I am focused on voice overs and script writing while juggling the joys of motherhood.
